1. Chelated Zinc
True to its name,
this type of zinc has undergone chellation, which is a process molecues undergo
that gives them an electrical charge allowing them to positively attract a
charged mineral, in this case zinc. It reates a temporary increase in thei
complecity and concetration of the mineral within the molecule.
2. Zinc Orotate
This type of zinc
is most easily absorbed by the human cellular membranes. It has been chellated
to orotic acid, it is more neutrally charged, allows them to pass through
membranes of cells easity and offered highest amounts of accompanying mineral
atoms into cells leading to higher tissue concentrations. It is arguably the
best form of zinc on the market today.
3. Zinc
Picolinate:
Has been chelated
to picolinic amino acids.
4) Zinc Gluconate:
While popular on the market,
this is a chemical substitute for zinc, it is essentially fermented glucose,
and therefore not the best option. The body does not absorb much of this
chemical, and it does not have the benefits of actual zinc.
5) Zinc Acetate:
This is another chemically
altered form of zinc, which is slightly more bio available than gluconates. It
contains copper
This form of zinc, also known
as zinc salt dihydrate and zinc diacetate, is created by adding acetic acid to
zinc carbonate or zinc metal. It has been known to have immune effects similar
to actual zinc, but negative affects from toxic quantities of copper.
6) Zinc Oxide:
This form is common in topical
creams, and has decent but not great absorption rates.
7) Zinc Sulfate:
Water-soluble
and non-chelated, this is an inorganic form of zinc. Studies show mixed results
on the body’s ability to absorb and metabolize this form of zinc.
